Valtellina Superiore Riserva Sassella Cantina Menegola 2009

The Sassella Riserva Superiore by Menegola is one of those red wines that we feel can recommend for a gift or to enjoy a few sips of happiness, perhaps during the winter and in front of a full dinner to be consumed by the fireplace. It comes from Nebbiolo grapes that are produced from a vineyard that has a great story to tell: over 100 years of age in an area in which the heroic viticulture dominates the scenery. We are in the Valtellina, an area where the base of the wine production there, more than in other places, sweat and hard work, passion and experience. The screw here is worked exclusively by hand; and is basically a requirement since only the human hand can go on sheer and steep terraces that surround the valley. The brothers Menegola are one of the best representations of this enthusiasm and this sweat: since 1850 make to the viticulture their raison d'etre, although only in 2006 they founded the winery that bears their name. We are in the heart of one of the most important and most interesting terraced vineyards of Italy; and it is in this beautiful setting, after a break of 30 months in large wooden barrels of French oak, born Sassella Riserva Superiore by Menegola. A Nebbiolo from Valtellina which shows a beautiful ruby red color and intense nose that gives off its notes of fruit in alcohol, liquorice and spice. The Sassella Riserva Superiore by Menegola is a red wine that is able to tell, to narrate, to convey those emotions, those feelings and those values that only nature can give.
